Tournament Wrap Up
Alright, I felt that I should post something about a great day for Corunna Giants Baseball.
However, I wondered what should I write. Unfortunately, I got called to support my work team the night before our Big Day. Of course the other coaches made sure I felt as bad as possible and we all laughed about it. As I left to head home to go to bed on Friday night, I told them that I would see a game in the tournament!
So throughout the day I bothered the team score keeper by text and kept up on the teams play. I was excited by the outcome of the Port Lambton game (close game - we scored 7 runs and made good baseball plays). I experienced the roller coaster of the Corunna 2 game and as I left work for the day... I had gotten my wish to watch the boys play in the tournament.
Even though the third game didn't end as every team supporter wished, I was so proud. The boys never gave up. Third game on a very hot day and they kept battling. All the pitchers kept coming to the mound trying to get those strikes for their team, the infielders kept knocking down balls and making plays for their team, and the outfielders got to those balls and hit the cutoff man. Truly exciting.
So when I thought what a great game, it only got better. In a game that could not be won, the team took it to a new level. I heard kids encouraging the rally cap as we came to bat in that final inning. The cheered, they chanted, I know Camlachie was impressed by the support this team from Corunna showed for each other. The boys exemplified what it was to be a team -- they did not lie down and quit and made it an inning to remember for the whole year.
Great support from the fans and great Team work from the boys.
